Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 October 2026

This page explains what personal information the Yokai Cat website (YokaiCat.io) collects, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We only collect what we need to run the site.

Who we are

Yokai Cat ("we", "us") runs YokaiCat.io. For any question about your information, email us at privacy@yokaicat.io or message us in our official Telegram chat at t.me/YokaiCatChat.

Our admins will never message you first, and we will never ask for your seed phrase, private keys or money.

What we collect and why

Newsletter

If you sign up, we store your email address, the language you were using on the site, the date and the fact that you agreed. We use this only to send you Yokai Cat news. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in any newsletter email, or by contacting us. We keep your email until you unsubscribe.

Developer applications

If you apply to join the team, we store your name, email address, expertise, experience level, your CV (PDF), the site language and the date. We use this only to review your application and to contact you about it. We keep applications for up to 12 months and then delete them, or sooner if you ask us to.

Game leaderboards

If you claim a spot after a game, we store your Telegram username, your score, which game you played and how long your run lasted. Your Telegram username is kept private and is required to record your personal best. With your consent, your chosen display name and score appear publicly. If you leave the display name blank, we show Anonymous Yokai. Do not enter your Telegram username as your display name if you want it kept private. Contact us to have an entry removed.

To verify ranked runs and limit abuse, our backend processes game inputs and a keyed hash of your IP address. Temporary rate-limit and used-session records are removed by scheduled cleanup. Hosting providers may separately retain access logs.

Stored on your own device

The site saves a few things in your browser's local storage so it works the way you left it: your language choice, your personal best scores, whether you already signed up to the newsletter, and today's fortune. This stays on your device and we cannot see it. You can remove it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

What we do not do

  • We do not use tracking or advertising cookies, and we do not run analytics on this site.
  • We do not connect to your crypto wallet on this site.
  • We never sell, rent or trade your personal information.

Services we use

  • YouTube hosts embedded videos. Loading or playing an embedded video connects your browser to Google/YouTube and is subject to their privacy policy.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile helps protect our submission forms from automated abuse. Verification sends browser and device information to Cloudflare. Our server also sends the verification token and client IP address to Cloudflare for validation. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
  • Google Fonts provides the fonts on this site. When a page loads, your browser connects to Google's servers, which receive your IP address. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Links to Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube and Telegram take you to those platforms, which have their own privacy policies.

These providers may store information in other countries. We only use providers that keep it secure.

Why we are allowed to use it

We rely on your consent for the newsletter, developer applications and the public leaderboard. You can withdraw your consent at any time, and that does not affect anything we did before. Server logs and the Turnstile verification are used because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the site running, secure and free of spam.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw your consent. Email us and we will reply within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority in your country.

Keeping it safe

Information is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). The website can only add information, so nobody can read the newsletter list, applications or CVs from the site itself. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not include sensitive details such as ID numbers or financial information in your CV.

Age

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think someone under 18 has sent us their personal details, contact us and we will delete them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
